The place where anime and manga come to life…
This brand is a restaurant brand that ties in anime and manga which is the theme of the restaurant. Also, the menu items would be dishes from well known anime such as One Piece, Naruto, and more!
At Sugoi Time, people with a love for anime, manga and Japanese culture will be able to come, eat, socialize, and feel as if they’ve entered in a world of anime/manga.
After some time, I came to like the name Sugoi Time with the word すごい (Sugoi) meaning “amazing” or “awesome” in Japanese. So adding the word time after it would translate to “Amazing” Time.
I’ve decided to create a mascot that would represent how diverse the anime community is, with fans from all over the world. This is also why I chose to make the mascot with Afro-centric features.
The logo resembles these sketched out lines which would also go with the lines coming out of the mascot’s hair. The logo and the mascot’s design should go hand in hand.
This would be an example of the brand’s menu.
It was important to keep the anime/manga theme, so the decision was made to make the menu into a full manga and like most manga, it would read backwards.
This sketch really gives an idea on how the restaurant’s interior would look.
When it comes to collateral, anime and manga are a big part of the brand. So having a sketchbook was a great was to encourage artists to expand their creativity and possibly use the Sugoi Time sketchbook for possible manga ideas.
